Brain fitness coach Don Veenstra of The Brain Fitness Gym visits each of the three St. Louis-area Sunrise locations every week to perform brain fitness sessions. Alzheimer’s patients at Sunrise of Clayton spent a morning last week bowling on the Nintendo Wii console. On the same day after some time, more than a few residents spent the afternoon on memory and concentration computer exercises. Matt McGaughey, activities director at Sunrise said that the facility approaches brain fitness the same way as if a resident needed physical therapy. Mr. Gaughey got an idea of introducing seniors to video game after bringing in a Play station gaming console to play Tiger Woods Golf with a patient suffering from Parkinson’s disease. McGaughey said “We wanted to find a way for technology to become integrated in the community; it serves a dual purpose, since you can introduce them to technology and, at the same time, it continues to keep them challenged.” Veenstra Said, “We try to challenge the residents to do as much as they can with success, “Part of the art of all this is assessing real quickly where someone is at.”

According to an Associated Press-AOL Games poll, more than four in 10, or 43 percent, parents never accompany their children when they play video or computer games. “I don’t think it’s good for them, the violence, the obsession,” said Karen Kimball, 55, of Hale, Minn., another nonplayer who estimates her 17-year-old son plays 25 hours weekly. “No longer is it, ‘Let’s go out and throw a football.’” Marvin Paup, 33, of Golden Valley, Ariz., says he plays 30 hours a week with his son and dozens more on his own and their present favorite is “Halo 3.” Marvin said “That game has bonded me with my son; it’s like a whole new reality with me and him.”

Violent Games Make Kids More Aggressive

He studied on about twenty five hundred kids and came to know that the kids actually learn from the violent video games and create hostile environment, and become vicious. Gentile is an assistant professor of psychology, and discussed his conclusion with his father, who is a professor in New York.Gentile says he studied basic students, high school students, and college going students and found that kids who play multiple violent games are more aggressive in point of fact. Gentile says educational games should be used but these games are not easy to find out, multiple millions of dollars was spend on the new “Halo 3″ game, at the same time as only about ten thousand dollars is spent on most educational software. Douglas also says that students become violent by the teaching techniques but the same technique can work in a good way. If the game shows “pro social motives” then the game player will automatically become more pro social.

The Legend Of Zilda: this video game released in 1986, Zelda was the first game that came with an internal battery to save progress.
