Wii and Xbox 360

According to the Financial Times around nine million Wiis were bought across the globe as of 31st July, just barely overtaking the 360 sales of 8.9 million units during the same tenure. The makes of hardware tout the number of consoles they have shipped into the rental channels and not the number actual consol sold. If the number give the low impression, the reason behind is that they are for consoles that have been sold, not shipped. If the numbers seem accurate the Wii sales milestone is a watershed for Nintendo. According to Wedbush Morgan Securities estimates, the still- in- production PS2 had sold one hundred and two million units internationally as of April 2007.
